It is important to leave our comfort zones and push ourselves to exceed our limits. It’s also important to give the body enough rest and recovery to make those gains stick. For years one way I’ve done this is through massage, but it can get expensive after a while. I had an old massage chair and didn’t think much of them for actual therapy until I went to a conference and they had these high-speed, low drag massage chairs and I decided to sit down…
I’m not sure if I was just sore from walking around a convention for 3-days or if this chair was really that good, but I looked at the model and a few day’s later decided to purchase a Relaxonchair MK-IV. It isn’t a well-known brand in the industry, but the reviews all say the same thing, that they make quality chairs. This means that I’m not paying for the brand, I’m paying exclusively for its functionality.
The chair looks bulky, but after measuring it out of curiosity, I’ve found it’s not as bulky as competing chairs can be. The specifications manual says the chair was made in an ergonomic fashion and sitting in it I feel comfortable and the material feels good to the touch.
What I really like about this massage chair is that it’s FDA approved. This means that somebody checked and made sure that from a technical point of view this chair will do more good than harm. There are many “therapeutic” chairs out there that aren’t checked for those claims.
It comes with 5 preset programs and they all do a great job (Yoga is my favorite!). This chair is like Back to the Future and does A LOT more than just run a roller up and down your back. The chair also has airbags that take turns inflating and deflating to improve blood circulation and release any muscle tension, aches, and pains.
Once you’re done with your massage, you cannot start another one without bringing the chair out of the zero-gravity reclined position, sit back up, and start over. This seems like such a simple fix! What’s wrong with you Relaxonchair?!?! It works out okay though since someone is normally waiting for their turn and if I could keep going, I might never share. And sharing is caring!
Think of it this way: I pay $100 (including tip) for a traditional massage and this chair costs about $2300. I just had to use the chair 23 times to break even and I’ve definitely used it more than that! With the company offering a 3-year limited warranty, think of the money you’ll save and consider this a wise investment in your long-term health.
Yes! It is Navy SEAL approved. Although I still like a traditional massage better, it will relieve muscle aches, pain, and tension to help your body recover faster so you can get back to training.
